Verplank, Since 1908
Photo Description

The Verplank story begins in 1908 when Tony Verplank cut ice blocks out of Spring Lake, packed them in sawdust, and stored them in a warehouse to fill ice boxes across West Michigan throughout the summer. He supplied coal in the winter to heat those same houses. This continued through the 1920s, when his sons joined the company, through the 1940s. But in the late 1940s, the growth and availability of refrigerators changed everything.

Now in the fourth generation of Verplank ownership, the company focus is construction aggregate. The Verplank family of companies supply and deliver stone and aggregate across Michigan.
